Frank Greinke, a member of President Jim Doti’s cabinet, donated money for a new statue honoring the hard work of Chapman’s professors. Greinke would not disclose the cost of the statue or the statue’s appearance because he wants to keep the cost confidential and the statue a secret until the unveiling.
At the 15th Annual Faculty Honors Convocation and sculpture dedication ceremony, awards will be given out to professors based on teaching, creative activity and service.
The awards ceremony will take place Friday in Beckman 404 at 3 p.m. At 4 p.m., the statue will be revealed on the north side of the Leatherby Libraries. The ceremony is open to all members of the Chapman community.
“This is an annual event held at the end of every academic year,” said Susanna Branch, academic events coordinator. “The purpose is to acknowledge faculty achievement. There is not usually a sculpture every year. This year is special for that reason.”
