Socks with sandals: First of all, this never looked good. Sandals were not made with the intent to be worn with your feet covered up. The equation is simple: if you’re going to wear socks, wear shoes, and if you’re going to be barefoot, wear sandals. Don’t mess it up.

Patterns on patterns: This is the ultimate head-shaker. Never combine a patterned piece of apparel with another patterned piece of apparel. It just looks horrible.

Tie length: Too long, too short. Length matters! Tip of the tie should always be just touching the top of your belt.

Too much cologne: Do us all a favor and take it easy on the cologne. There’s a fine line between smelling good and suffocating those around you. Don’t cross it.

Buttoning too many buttons: A casual button-down includes a lot of buttons on the placket. Unless you are putting on a tie, not all of them are completely necessary. You generally want to leave the top two or three buttons undone.
